Stories for Indian families in the United States
Heritage-language stories for Indian families in the United States. English all day at school, Hindi, Telugu or Kannada for a short night, without a fake promise of fluency.
School in the US will do English thoroughly. Friends will do English even more thoroughly. A heritage language survives when it is useful on a Tuesday, not only when relatives visit. Ten minutes of a story is a Tuesday. A Sunday crash course that ends in tears is not.
What the app can carry
Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and English. Not Tamil, not Gujarati, not Malayalam, not Bengali, not Punjabi. If your language is missing, this site should not talk you into a neighbour language. The pages to use are Hindi kahaniyan, Telugu bedtime stories and Kannada stories. The longer essay is keeping a language abroad.
Grandparents in India are often asleep during an American bedtime. A story is not a video call, and it should not be described as one. Call when the clocks allow. On the other nights, the child still hears the language. Minie is a myna they can ask a question. You are the person who knows the family jokes.
Practical limits
- Check the Google Play listing on your own account. The iPhone redesign is in TestFlight, not a public store listing yet. This site does not claim a particular US storefront ranking or age rating beyond the product's ages 3 to 10.
- Android is on Google Play. The iPhone and iPad beta invite is on the install page.
- Do not promise a teacher that the app is a curriculum. It is a voice story.
- The Kurma parent section is fingerprint-locked. Ask about words and TV time there, without turning bedtime into a report card.
Little Leap Digital Pvt Ltd is registered in Nandigama, NTR District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The product is used by families who are not in that town. That is the whole geographic claim.
Questions parents ask
Will my child become fluent?
A short story habit supports hearing and speaking. It does not, by itself, produce fluency. This site will not quote a study we do not have.
Can we use it beside a weekend language class?
Yes. The class can be the hard practice. The story can be the ordinary night.
