Stories for Indian families in the UAE

Voice stories for Indian families in the UAE. Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and English. Malayalam is widely spoken here and is not in the app.

Indian families in the UAE often have an English-medium school, a Friday–Saturday weekend, and a summer that pushes play into the early morning or the late evening. The indoor hour needs a plan. A reel will volunteer. A story will not, unless you start it.

Languages, including the missing one

Hindi is a common home language. Telugu and Kannada communities are here in real numbers. Malayalam is also widely spoken in the UAE, and Hey Minie does not have it. Do not use a Hindi story as a stand-in for Malayalam. Use Hindi, Telugu or Kannada only when that language is actually yours. English is there for the story that is just a story.

The weekend is a poor time to do all the language work, because it is also the only wide space for cousins and errands. Put two short story nights on school nights. Leave Friday for people. Minie, the brown myna, is built for a short voice session. Ages 3 to 10. Meera, Tara and Kabir are the ages in the story world if you want a picture of 4, 6 and 9.

Households with more than two adults

  • Agree which adult ends the story. A helper, a parent and a grandparent can otherwise each add 'one more'.
  • The TV app pairs with a QR code if the phone should stay with the adult.
  • Heat is not a reason to skip the ending. It is a reason to keep the session short.
  • Beta parents on the redesigned iPhone and iPad build use a WhatsApp group. The invite is on the install page.
  • No claim is made here about school tie-ups in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Questions parents ask

Is Malayalam included?

No. English, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada only.

Does the Friday weekend change the routine?

Yes. Do the short school-night stories, and do not save the entire language for the weekend.
