Ages 9–10
Stories for ages 9 to 10
Longer voice stories for 9 and 10 year olds, who can predict an ending and are also old enough for reels to get sticky. Kabir, in Minie's world, is 9.
Nine and ten can hold a longer story, compare two choices, and explain a word to a younger child. Kabir is 9 and is with Papa. That is the top of Hey Minie's age range, which ends at 10. They are not toddlers, and a tiny voice will insult them. They are also not as immune to a feed as they claim.
Talk to them as if the plot matters
Ask what would change the ending, which character is like someone they know, and whether the story was fair. Let them ask Minie a question by voice. Typing is optional and often worse, because it feels like school. If they want to read the night themselves, good. Offer the voice story as the home-language night, not as a baby activity. Kannada, Telugu and Hindi are often harder for them to read than to understand. Listening is still legitimate.
Reels at this age
This is a common age for 'one more' to stop being cute. The reel note has language you can borrow. Do not pretend a story replaces a conversation about what they saw. If something online bothered them, talk about that. The story can be what happens instead of the next reel on an ordinary night. It is not a counselling service, and this site will not claim it is.
- Agree the device rule with them once, in daylight. Night is a bad time to invent policy.
- One story still counts. Length can grow. Number of episodes should not.
- The Kurma parent section stays locked. A 10-year-old does not need to grade their own screen time in front of you.
- If they have a younger sibling, let them ask the sibling one question about the story. Teaching it is how the word sticks.
Hey Minie stops at 10. If your child is 11 and bored of the tone, do not force it. The routine ideas on the bedtime page still apply with a book they chose.
Questions parents ask
Is 10 too old for a storytelling app?
Not if the story respects their intelligence. If the performance feels babyish to your particular child, stop. The age range is 3 to 10, not a dare to keep going.
Can they use it alone?
They can operate a story. The first nights are better with you nearby so the language and the questions have a person attached. The parent section remains yours, behind the fingerprint lock.
