1. Introduction

Welcome to Hey Minie, a product of Little Leap Digital Pvt Ltd. Hey Minie is designed for parents to manage AI-powered interactive storytelling for their children. Our AI interacts directly with children to generate personalized storytelling experiences while parents oversee their usage. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: We collect email addresses when parents sign up.
  • AI Interaction Data: We process interactions to generate personalized storytelling experiences.
  • Usage Data: We record how the app is used to keep it working well. Voice recordings of children speaking with Minie are stored, as described in Section 5 below.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate and improve AI-powered stories for children.
  • To analyze and present insights to parents about their child's storytelling interactions.
  • To improve speech recognition for children's voices, using anonymised voice recordings, unless a parent opts out (see Section 5).

4. AI-Generated Insights & Accuracy

Hey Minie's AI analyzes child responses to provide insights to parents. These insights:

  • Are not clinically validated and should not be considered professional assessments.
  • May contain inaccuracies, and parents should use discretion in interpreting insights.
  • Are generated dynamically.

5. Voice Recordings

We store voice recordings of children's conversations with Minie. Recordings are anonymised and used to improve how Hey Minie recognises and understands children's speech.

We never sell recordings or any other personal data, and we never use them for advertising. Parents can ask us to delete their child's recordings, or opt out of their child's recordings being used to improve speech recognition, by emailing hello@minie.ai. We act on deletion and opt-out requests promptly and as required by applicable law.

6. Data Protection & Security

We implement security measures to protect user data. However, no system is 100% secure, and users acknowledge that they share data at their own risk.

7. Data Deletion

You may request permanent deletion of your Hey Minie account and associated data at any time. To initiate a deletion request, please visit our Account Deletion page. You can also delete your account in the Hey Minie app. We act on deletion requests promptly and as required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

Hey Minie is made for young children, so we treat children's data with extra care. We aim to meet the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

  • Parents hold the account. A parent or guardian signs up and signs in (with Google, Apple, or a phone number) and creates a profile for each child. Children do not create their own accounts.
  • The child profile holds the details a parent enters: the child's name, date of birth and gender.
  • When a child talks to Minie, we process their voice to understand and reply, and we keep conversation transcripts and things Minie learns about the child's interests so stories can be personalised and parents can see insights.
  • We do not show advertising to children, and we do not use children's data for behavioural or targeted advertising. In our Android app, advertising identifiers are switched off, and the analytics and install-measurement tools we use are set up with their advertising features disabled.
  • We do not sell children's personal data.

Reviewing and deleting your child's data. A parent can delete the account in the Hey Minie app (Settings on Android, Profile on iOS). A parent can also email hello@minie.ai to request deletion of their child's recordings and data, to ask what data we hold, or to opt out of recordings being used to improve speech recognition. We act on these requests promptly and as required by applicable law.

9. Minie Is an AI

Minie is an AI storyteller, not a person. Its replies are created by computer software. Conversations pass through automated safety filtering: a safety model checks what children say so Minie can respond with care, and rule-based checks screen Minie's replies before they are spoken. No filter is perfect, so we recommend a parent stays nearby.

We share data only with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf for speech recognition, AI responses, voice, real-time audio, hosting and analytics. They do so under contract and not for their own advertising.
