When the next video starts itself
· For parents
How to tell a finished story from a feed that queues another video, and how to try both for a week without a lecture.
The hard moment is not the video you chose. It is the one that starts because the last one ended. A child learns that media does not finish. Hey Minie is built in the other direction: a story, a voice, a choice, an ending. Active, not passive. Their voice. Their choices. Their story.
Name the thing before it starts
If a video belongs in the day, say its name. A cousin's dance. A school recording. Then it closes. 'Some videos' is not a name. An unnamed queue is how the evening disappears. Scrolley, in Minie's world, is the character who wants that queue. You do not have to insult your child with the metaphor. You do have to have an ending ready.
What a story session is
- They pick from the library. The Red Raincoat is one example title.
- They listen. They can ask Minie a question by voice.
- They choose once, if the story offers a choice. The choice should be theirs, not a quiz.
- The session ends. A child-lock can hold them inside Hey Minie until you unlock with a fingerprint or password. It does not delete every other app.
- You can move the picture to the TV with the QR pairing if the phone is the fight.
We will not say this replaces play, books or you. It replaces an unnamed next video, on the nights you decide. The short version is a story, not a feed.
Questions parents ask
Is a moving picture always a problem?
No. A video you named and finished can be part of a good day. The problem is the video that starts itself.
Does Hey Minie claim to block other apps?
No. Child lock keeps this session inside Hey Minie until a parent unlocks it. Other apps remain on the device.
